The City of Ember: Chapter 20

In chapter 20, The Last Message, the note book talked about a bunch of people (mainly old people and babies,) going down to Ember. After they read the book, they saw a dog with a plum in his mouth. They got so exited, and then found a tree with plums in it. After a while, they found some kind of cave. In the Cave was a hole. Down the hole... Lina and Doon could see Ember. So they took out Clary's message, put that and a rock in Doon's shirt, and let it fall down to the Ember streets, just waiting for Mrs. Murdo to find it.

QUESTIONS: Will the people of Ember believe them? Will they find people up there? What do you think happens next?

The City of Ember: Chapter 19

In chapter 19, A World of Light, Doon, Lina and Poppy take the path that Lina found, and found a message at the end saying to get water and climb up a long hill. It takes an extremely long time before they reach the top. It's unimaginable for them. They see the moon, and the stars, (but of coarse, they don't know what that stuff is.) Soon, the "Lantern" goes down, and the "Fire Ball" goes up. Then, a bunch of birds come to play and sing. Then, after they wander a bit, they decide to eat and read the rest of the notebook.

QUESTIONS: Will they find a city? Will they find people? What does the notebook say?

The City of Ember: Chapter 18

In chapter 18, Where the River Goes, Doon, Lina and Poppy's boat ride was terrifying. Water every where, you couldn't see anything, the boat was going extremely fast, but then towards the end, the river claimed down, and they slowly made their way to the shore. Once on land, Lina found a path, leading up to another path, but they sat and ate first. They soon realised that Lina still had Clary's note in her pocket, and no one would know about the city. Then, they found a note book. They only dared to read the first sentenc: They say we leave tonight...

QUESTIONS: What dose the rest of the notebook say? Are there people in the city? Is there a city?

the City of Ember: Chapter 17

In chapter 17, Away, Doon is waiting for Lina at the pipeworks. At the last second, she arrives with Poppy in her arms. They climbed down to the river room, where they found *paddles in the boat, but they couldn't figure out how ti use them, so they put them on the floor. Then, they finished setting it up, all hopped in, and set off on our journey.

*They don't know what it is.

The City of Ember: Chapter 15

In chapter 15, A Desperate Run, Doon and Lina finish their exploring in the river room and go home to get ready. While Doon was packing, he over heard 2 guards looking for him to arrest him (because of the "awful lies" he and Lina said about the mayor.) The next day, he went to Lina to tell her the awful news. They hid in the school. No one was there, it was a day off for the Singing. They decided to leave the city alone, but leave a note for Clary, telling her about the way out. But Lina was spotted by 2 guards while delivering the message.

QUESTIONS: Do you think Lina will get caught? Will Doon leave without her? What will happen to ember?

The City of Ember: Chapter 14

In chapter 14, The Way Out, Doon and Lina went to investigate what they thought was the exit. They had found a latter leading down to a dark, dark space. They found a door, leading into an even darker room. In the room, they found 2 boxes of tools labeled *"Candles" and *"Matches", and some kind of thing labeled *"Boat". After they found out what they were for, they found a river: their way out.

*They don't know what it is.

QUESTIONS: Do you think they'll tell the rest if Ember? Will the rest of Ember believe them? When will they go?

City of Ember: Chapter 13

In chapter 13, Deciphering the Message, Lina showed Clary the Instructions. Then, Clary noticed something: she saw "egres", and it turns out, it could be "egress", and egress... means exit. The next thing she did was tell Doon.

QUESTIONS: Do you think Clary's right? Could the Instructions be the way out of Ember? What do you think happens next?

The City of Ember: Chapter 12

In chapter 12, A Dreadful Discovery, Doon went into the room that he found to find the Mayor sleeping with a big pile of supplies the city needed in the center of the room. He and Lina figured out that Looper was making secret deliveries threw a latch in the ceiling. They told ta guard about this and he said that he would make a note of it.

QUESTIONS: Do you think the Mayor will trust them? Will the people of Ember believe them? Would you trust them? What do you think will happen to the mayor?

The City of Ember: Chapter 9

In chapter 9, the Door in the Roped Off Tunnel, Lina shows Doon the papers she found, and Don showed her the Roped off tunnel. But when they were there, they learned they weren't the first ones to find the door. While they were there, they heard footsteps, and grunts, so they hid. After the person unlocked the door and went into the room. Then the person ran out really fast. Lina and Doon thought the person was going to save the city. But Lina thought she had recognized him...

QUESTIONS: Who do you think the man (or woman) was? what do you think they were doing? Will that person save the city?

The City of Ember: Chapter 7

In chapter seven, A Message Full of Holes, Lina decides to try to figure out the message Poppy had in her mouth. Because Poppy was eating it, it was pretty much ruined... but there was still a few words, so it was possible to make it out. She found a couple of words, many of which had to do with the pipeworks, but the rest wasn't so easy.

QUESTIONS: What do you think the letter's about? Will it help Ember be saved? Is it an escape? Do you think Doon will be involved?

City of Ember: Chapter Six

In chapter six, The Box in the Closet, Lina went to a town meeting about the problems in the city. The Mayor began to talk, but eventually, the people of Ember got upset because what they thought the Mayor was lying. The Mayor said he had "solutions" to solve the problem, but the people didn't believe him, so the Mayor ran away before anything got crazy, as did Lina. Doon and his father had a talk about how strange the mayor was, and about Doon's problem with anger. Then, when Lina got home, she found Granny searching threw the apartment closet, looking for the thing she said her father told her about. Then Lina looked behind the couch to fin Poppy and an open box. When she asked what was in the box, she noticed Poppy, eating the papers that were in the box.

QUESTIONS: What kind of papers do you think Poppy was eating? Were they important? What kind of solutions do you think the Mayor has for the city?

City of Ember: Chapter Four

In chapter four, Something Lost Nothing Found, Lina's grandma ,"Granny", goes crazy looking for something that her father told her about... but she's not even sure what it is! Lina asks her neighbor, Ms. Murdo, to check in on Granny and Poppy every now and then. While Mrs. Murdo is watching them, Lina goes to visit her friend Clary at the green houses. While she's there, a man from Ember comes out of the unknown regions, screaming about how terrified he was because of the unknown regions. He said he went in looking for a city or something to get them out of Ember, but realized ANYTHING could of been out there, so he ran out in tears.
